Morning,
January is often a long month for people. The sunlight, the weather… We are almost through January. If you want to chat over a cup of tea, I’m here to brighten up your day.
I enjoyed a work trip last week to Houston to work with an amazing group of leaders who are leaning into the fast growth in their business. January seems to kick everyone into gear, and they were ready for learning.
One bright spot in the month was meeting Scotty at a 5k run a couple weeks ago.

Scotty is 78, a three-time cancer survivor, and a military vet who I met doing a 5K run earlier this month.
Last week my email focused on the first of three lessons from Scotty: Lean into fear instead of running from it.
This week introduces the second lesson we can apply in life and leadership.
Lesson 2: Collective commitment is powerful
Scotty and two of his friends, also in their 70s, made a goal of doing 300 5km runs in 2023. That would mean 100 races each.
Over the course of the year, Scotty had to take a couple weeks off to heal an ankle injury. Because of that time off he “only” had 97 races under his belt by the end of 2023.
What happened?
The two other friends did a couple extra runs so that collectively, the group met their goal.
Their collective bragging rights increased. Their story inspired. They accomplished more together.
Who is in your group to add to the power and influence you have in your leadership world? I’d love to learn more about those dynamics and how you leverage each other’s commitment, so email me back or reach me here and tell me a story about it.
Wishing you a great week.
Kerri
